At KÄHMA, beauty begins in nature — and in steam.
That’s why many of our skincare formulas are built on a precious base: floral and botanical hydrosols, also known as plant waters, obtained through gentle steam distillation.
What is a hydrosol?
A hydrosol is the aromatic water that results from steam-distilling a plant. This ancient, delicate process extracts the water-soluble compounds and subtle aromatic essence of the plant. Unlike essential oils, hydrosols are gentle yet effective — perfect for sensitive and mature skin
The process
When a plant is distilled, steam carries its aromatic molecules. As the steam cools, it condenses into two elements: essential oil (oil-soluble) and hydrosol (water-soluble). The hydrosol captures a small amount of the plant’s active molecules — ideal for creating gentle yet effective skincareproducts.
In our KÄHMA anti-aging hydrating serum, we’ve carefully selected four organic hydrosols to create a powerful botanical synergy:

Horsetail hydrosol
Rich in natural silica, it supports skin regeneration and helps improve elasticity.

Lemon balm hydrosol
Known for its soothing and calming properties, ideal for reactive or sensitive skin.

Nettle hydrosol
Toning and purifying, it provides essential minerals that help balance the skin.

Geranium hydrosol
Balancing and mildly astringent, it promotes a radiant complexion. Its light floral scent is what gives our formulas their subtle, fresh, and natural fragrance — a gentle and universal aroma that suits everyone.
These hydrosols aren’t just added for fragrance — they are the very foundation of our formulas, replacing plain water with potent botanical extracts.
The result: a high-performance, sensorial, and skin-friendly formula powered by the strength of plants.

Anti-aging hydrating serum
Protects the skin against aging, and genetic and environmental stressors.
